Mediation

What is Mediation?

Mediation is a voluntary process enabling people to resolve their own issues in an informal and lasting way. Mediation helps people talk and communicate with each other to create a way forward recognising everyone's needs.

Why choose Mediation?

  • Mediation offers an informal yet structured approach to resolving disputes.
  • Mediation gives you and your neighbour an opportunity to communicate effectively.
  • Mediation is private and confidential unless you agree otherwise.
  • Mediation can improve or repair relationships between families and neighbours.
  • Mediation does not require that you give up any of your options.
  • Mediation is usually provided free of charge subject to agreement with your housing provider, local council or Social Services.
  • Mediation can help you avoid expensive legal fees and may even help to protect your tenancy.

Being an entirely independent organisation, Bliss is well placed to ensure that each case is treated with impartiality and that client confidences are maintained.

Upon closure, Bliss will only describe the stage mediation has reached and a brief outcome of the case to the referral agency. Parties may consent to more information being sent to their referral agency if they both feel it is in their best interests.
